2: Posh and Becks

With EVERYONE in the western world talking about him and Rebecca Loos, David Beckham and the good lady wife cavorted in front of the cameras during their holiday in the French Alps. It fooled no-one, but you have to admire their guile.

3: Jodie Marsh - the belts

When she went out wearing those two belts. One around her waist, one around her chest. Don't tell me you don't remember, some things you just never forget.

4: Mohammed Al Fayed

If there was an award for lifetime acheivement in the pursuit of shameless attempts to get press coverage, this man would walk it. EVERY sale Harrods has is kicked off by some very famous person shivering in a horse-drawn carriage. And the papers print the pictures EVERY TIME. Clever guy.

5: Jordan and Friends

Launching her new underwear range, Jordan (sorry, Katie) gets friends and members of her fan club (!) to model her underwear. In a department store. In front of several dozen photographers. The women come in all shapes and sizes and when you look at the photos it's clear some are already regretting it. Oops.

6: Jodie Marsh - the Borat bikini

When she went out wearing that Borat-style bikini. I mean, really!

7: Rachel Stevens from S Club 7

These days we always suspect that some paparazzi pictures are set up. But the set we received at Heat magazine of her crossing the road in front of a poster ADVERTISING HER OWN SINGLE was surely not even slightly set-up. Thankfully no-one fell for it and printed them (ok, no-one except me).

8: Tina Barrett from S Club 7

Miffed to be left out of the whole crossing-the-road action, 'the other one' from S Club decided to turn up in a Liz Hurley style dress at her own premiere - just as the rest of the band had decided it was Dress Down Day. It worked, though, and she got acres of coverage.

9: Any Big Brother couple

In the old days, Big Brother couplings were genuine - Helen and Paul really did fall for each other, for real. Now though housemates hook up mainly to get the magazine or newspaper buy-up money. Shame, the romantic moments in Big Brother used to be the best bit, now they're all fake.

10: Jodie Marsh - all the time
