Any clues on the possible starting line-up?
I think Fergie has had a strong idea of his team for the past ten or so weeks, and he has probably known nine of the eleven for some time. Carrick and Scholes in midfield, the usual back four of Brown, Vidic, Ferdinand and Evra with Van der Sar in goal. Rooney and Ronaldo in attack and the last two places are up for grabs between probably as many as six players. I would be surprised if Giggs started, and I would say it would be two from Park, Hargreaves and Tevez.
Do you think Ferguson will play two up front or will United go 4-3-3?
I don't think we will see a rigid 4-4-2 or 4-3-3, it will be a much more fluid formation than that. Rooney and Ronaldo will be given the freedom to go where they want in attack, but always with one of the other players filling in behind them.
Do you think United will be more attacking in their approach?
From what he said, I think Fergie would like to play the way that suits his team best, which is to be slightly more open. He spoke about the physicality of the Chelsea side, and I don't think he will want to play them at their own game because you can't beat them at it. So I would expect United to take a slightly more open approach but it will still be fairly cautious. I don't think United want this to be a cagey game. Fergie wasn't particularly happy with the way they attacked in the Nou Camp or against Barcelona at Old Trafford, so he has to find a way to make sure they carry a threat going forward, while keeping it tight at the back.
How did you gauge the mood in the camp?
People who don't see a lot of Fergie are always surprised at just how relaxed he is before big games. Having said that he was extremely relaxed today and clearly in a good mood, making jokes and saying that he was there to "spread peace". Although he still managed to call a Spanish journalist an idiot, and told the girl from GMTV she was nosy. But I think clearly everyone in the camp is very relaxed and looking forward to the game.
Does Cristiano Ronaldo need to show his critics that he can perform on the biggest stage?
Ronaldo is clearly an exceptional talent, but the one legitimate criticism is that against the top class defences, for example Chelsea, he hasn't always performed. There was a concern that he was getting slightly tired in the last five or six weeks of the season, but I think whatever the outcome he will still be regarded as one of the world's greatest players. And if he ends up with a winners medal then it will only increase Real Madrid's desire to sign him.
And finally, will the pitch affect United?
I am watching United train on it right now, and I would say it doesn't look great. There are no divots or mud on it, but it just doesn't look slick.
